Brief Description:  Setting Wing Sweep & Incidence

Next you drop two plumb bobs over each wing root and tip; and you have to stretch a string so the two outside (wing tip to wing tip) plumb bobs are centered over the string. The object of this little exercise is to have all four plumb bobs centered over the stretched string. In this second picture below you can see my two center (wing root) plumb bobs were 3/8 inch behind the stretched string. That means I have a 3/8 inch forward sweep of the wings over the 27 foot span. So how do you fix that?... not easily...you have to pull pull both wings off and grind down the rear attachment spars...AND How much do you file off the attachment spars?... a little-eenie-teenie-bit and then you push the wings back onto the fuselage, insert the guide pins and bolts, re-level the fuselage, re-square the wings, re-set the plumb bobs AND THAT'S WHEN YOU FIND OUT YOU NEED TO file off A LITTLE-EENIE-TEENIE BIT MORE! This is a real exercise in patience and you want to make absolutely sure you leave at least 5/8" clearance around the final hole you drill in the rear spar attach. I think I'll tackle this tomorrow!
