Brief Description:  Fabricate and install tail strobe and position lig

After taking so long to get back into building, there's several things I forgot...one of them was not to use a spade-bit on fiberglass. Installation of the Whelan tail combination strobe light/position light only requires two small holes for screws and one large center hole to attach the light assembly. The small holes are a simple matter of alignment with the mount and the center hole is of course "centered" using a 1 1/4 inch bit. In hindsight I should have used a forstner or holesaw bit for the big hole but thought it would go much faster using a spade bit. It was fast all right, but in the process the bit completely separated the two halves of the fairing and shredded the internal fabric. Four hours and 40 minutes later, lots of epoxy and and some fiberglass layup materials and it all looks good as new. I'm really glad I decided to build an almost all-metal RV. I can't imagine how much I would have messed up an all-fiberglass Glasair or Europa. Oh well...All's well that ends well. Other then the frustration of a ten minute job taking 5 hours, it looks pretty good and is internally a little more robust then the original.
