Brief Description:  Riveting the Horizontal Stabilizer Skin (right & l

From Feb 23 - Feb 26 2007, I completed steps 43 - 62 in the manual. This included priming all the parts, riveting the hinge brackets onto the spar. I drilled and matched all the holes for the HS-404/HS-405 rib attach points, tapered the ends of the 714s and 715; bent the radius on the flanges etc. It makes a huge difference where you start riviting. Follow the instructions very carefully, or you will get "oil-cannning"> I ended replacing some riviets and starting over twice to get the skin stretched properly, even though all the holes lined up. By the time you get the 1/2 of the assembly finished it becomes somewhat unweildly because of the size of the assembly.

These pictures were taken as I riveted the top skin on both sides. I riveted the internal rib and spar assembly to the bottom skin on both the right and left sides of the horizontal stabilizer.
