Brief Description:  Final Canopy Side Skirt Installation

I shaped side-skirt exterior pieces by first rolling the top and bottom over a padded pipe, to get a better fit on the aft portion of the side skirt to the fuselage when the canopy is closed and latched. Then I shaped the horizontal length of the side skirt by rolling both front-to-aft over my leg to get a c-shape in the aluminum. Next, I clecoed all the all the inner and exterior bracing and side panels onto frame to make sure everything fit against the fuselage and the gap between the skirting which extends over the rails is reasonably aesthetic. I also had to adjust the gaps between the upper C-971 Canopy Skirt Brace lightening-holes. Finally, I disassembled all of the side skirt pieces and riveted the inner braces to the exterior C-660 Canopy Skirts. I decided to fabricate some pull-handles for the sides and top of the canopy. The next step in the process is to blind-rivet this assembly to the canopy frame lower edges and into the upper flange of the S-shaped C-759 canopy brace and the same to the interior upper C-971 Canopy Skirt Braces on both sides.
