Brief Description: Countersinking Plexiglass & Fabricating Hole Finde
Today, I fabricated the “hole finding tool” that I’ll need for the rear skirts. I made the tool out of a ground-down hacksaw blade, split in half and riveted together. On the other end of the tool, I drilled a #30 hole in the top blade & a flush rivet on the bottom blade. I hope this works well when I do the aft- skirts. I also spent some time studying the plans to determine which holes in the plexiglass will receive rivets directly and which will contact dimpled aluminum; so I could countersink the plexiglass prior to enlarging the holes. After countersinking and deburring the plexiglass, I enlarged the holes to 5/32” using a Unibit and enlarged the holes in the frame using a stand #30 drill bit. Tomorrow, I’ll place the frame back on the fuselage and begin fitting the windscreen.
