Brief Description:  Canopy Frame Adjustments (cont.)

It took several hours of minute adjustments, but now the canopy frame finally matches all the curvatures of the fuselage. Once that was done, I realigned the tracks on the fuselage, centered the canopy frame wheels in the tracks, and drilled the final holes to hold the tracks in-place. The top of the canopy frame was too high in the front and back, so I cut 3/8 inch off the tubing holding the wheel assembly to lower the front (1st Pic). Then I adjusted the rear slider assembly so the back of the canopy frame was the correct height. I won’t drill the holes for the rear-slider assembly until a later date. As I moved the canopy frame fore and aft, it seemed to bind on the rear slider assembly, so I filed the slider frame-assembly slightly to fit better in the rear nylon slider block (2nd Pic). The canopy frame was still binding intermittently, and I realized the hole I drilled in the rear nylon slider block was not perpendicular on both sides, even though I drilled the block on a drill press. I guess I should have placed a wood spacer in the two arms of the block when I drilled it. Anyway, I re-drilled a slightly larger hole and the block slides on the rear slider frame assembly much better. I also reshaped the nylon slider block with curves so it will pass over the rear turtle-deck lip as per the diagrams (3rd Pic).
