Brief Description:  Completed Flap System Wiring

Today I worked on the electrical connections to the flap motor, control box and flap switch. I installed a new flap toggle switch which fully retracts the flaps when it is in the “up” position and it detents and stops at 10 degrees, 20 degrees, and 30 (full flap extension) degrees. When you release the switch from the down position the flaps automatically stop at the detents until pushed again. When you release in the up position the flaps continue to retract until they are fully retracted. The first switch I had didn’t have this functionality. I connected a 14v wire from the control box to the main aircraft electrical buss via a 5 Amp breaker and continued this wire to the power terminal of the flap control box. I connected the “Extend” wire from the control box to the #1 position of the toggle switch, and the “Retract” wire from the switch bracket to the #3 position of the toggle switch. I also connected a ground wire from the control box to the aircraft common ground buss.

I purchased some commercial label placards from Sporty’s Pilot Shop. They really look nice and will make the panel look much more professional than my ‘tape’ labels. I will install these new placard labels once I am done with all the wiring.
