Brief Description:  Installed NavWorx ADSB and the UAT Antenna

I finally received the NAVWORX ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast) after waiting for 7 months. I thought their service was very poor and they weren't very truthful about anticipated delivery dates. After 4 months of getting a run around, I asked that my account be credited for the full amount until they shipped. Their customer service lady got really pissy but finally I got my account credited. After all this time I really hope it works.

The ADS-B is mandated equipment for all aircraft starting in 2020. Its part of the FAAs transformation of the Air Traffic Control System and it is a nationwide network of ground stations that receive position reports from airplanes and relays them to controller's screens. The hardware allows Air Traffic Control Surveillance Traffic Tracking services through a UAT (Universal Access Transceiver). The unit is paired to my Mode S Transponder and it sends a very accurate GPS altitude, vector, speed, signals and also shows your tail number as part of a traffic target to other aircraft with ADS-B UAT transmitter/receiver capability and also to ground stations & satellites. A single point of entry allows the squawk code to be transmitted by both the onboard transponder and the ADS-B unit. This is all part of the culmination of the Capstone project I was part of when I was stationed in Alaska 17 years ago. This unit is dual-band so I can receive and transmit to both airliners and GA aircraft. The traffic is shown on my Grand Rapids EFIS and on my i-Pad using ForeFlight and my installed FlightStream 210. The ADS600-EXP offers full ADS-B OUT (transmit), and IN (receive) delivering traffic and weather to displays connected via internal WIFI and/or RS-232 serial channel. As part of the ADS-B package, the ground stations also transmit subscription-free data link weather and traffic to pilots in flight as long as you have an appropriate receiver. You get the full picture only if you have both "In" and "Out" capability (receiver and transmitter).
