Brief Description:  Building the Electrical System Schematics

For those of you who periodically check my website, I apologize for not posting any of my work for the past 6 months. Half of that time was spent helping our son-in-law, daughter and grand-kids move from Washington to Denver; vacationing, summer work, consulting, and some self-induced procrastination. A friend of mine has a poster in his hanger that says, "Don't worry about going slow on your project, instead be really worried about stopping." I've come to realize the reasons many of these projects don't get done is because you lose your motivation after the first 3 years. Statistics show 66% of experimentals are not completed by the original owner. For me, slow progress and nearly stopping altogether is attributed to two main factors: 1. My health hasn't been great and I don't know if I can pass a flight physical again. My last flight physical was 4 years ago and I barely passed. It would be a real bummer to do all this work and never be able to fly this airplane. 2. The second factor is all the unknowns, research, skills, cost, and frustration involved in building a glass cockpit. I wasn't prepared for that! Below are three pictures of the culminated self-effort I feel is required to do the wiring, schematics, and drawings correctly. I have two binders (8 inches of paperwork) just for the installation and integration. The last picture below is a self drawn schematic of just the left wing alone. You add in all the requirements for triple redundant electrical system, 2 completely separate EFIS, AHRS, COM, ADSB (in & out), Mode C Transponder with ADSB integration, emergency systems with redundancy, lights, heating, cooling, electronic ignition, 3 buss systems (main-essential-always on), 3 navigation sytems, and even blue-tooth integration for an iPad/Weather/Traffic. It's enough to nearly make me quit. I guess the good news is I finally am resolved to get this done and to get it done as well as it could be done by a professional.
