Brief Description:  Clock Countdown Warning Tone Speaker

When I originally purchased a Davtron digital clock/chronometer, I didn't get the optional aural tone warning speaker, thinking I could wire this directly into the GMA 240 audio system. When I tested this, I found the clock volume for the warning tone was set to 'extremely loud' with no internal volume control setting. What happened when the clock countdown timer reached 'zero' the warning horn 'vigorously' bellered a very loud warning tone through my headset. I thought this would be a little more then distracting while flying and would probably make me pee my pants if I wasn't expecting it, so I purchased the optional external speaker and found a space on my panel for the speaker. The digital chronometer has a lot of functionality which will be useful for instrument flight and for normal VFR cross country flying for switching fuel tanks, procedure turns, timing legs, position calls in Zulu time, etc. It has a function for universal time, local time, elapsed time with countdown timer and alarm, and internal lighting. The sort of unfortunate thing is now, my GRT EFIS has an internal clock function which was added into the latest upgrade version of the software. I'm still glad I got the Davtron clock, though, because if I get into the habit of using it all the time for things like keepting track of elapsed time for cross-country legs, procedure turns, etc., I can use the GRT clock for automatic notifications to switch fuel tanks every 30 minutes or any other functions that are related to a set amount of time. These can be programmed into the GRT and happen automatically, every time I fly.
