Brief Description: Avionics Cooling Fan (continued)
Some of the avionics (Garmin GNS 430W COM/NAV/GPS & Garmin GTS 327 Mode C Transponder) did have cooling ports to connect the hoses from the fan on a special plate that mounts on the back of the radio. That was the good news...the bad news was I didn't realize these back-plates had to be installed and held in-place with screws from the inside of the radio stack frames before I installed the radios. These pictures show me removing the entire radio-stack to install the back-plates (see picture # 1 & 2)...the smile is fake for picture taking purposes only! This was a real pain and took several hours because one of the frames was bent around a cam-lock that held the transponder in place.
