Brief Description: Install Avionics Cooling Fan Ducting
Installing the ducts (hoses) from the cooling fan to each of the respective avionics took more time than I expected due to routing problems around existing wires and securing the hoses with clamps. Drilling holes for the hoses in tight places was also problematic. Additionally, the hose that the manufacturer supplied is relatively thin and very soft, so it kinks when you bend it. To solve that problem, I cut some spare hose and wrapped the ducting wherever I made a severe bend. Then I clamped the wrapped hose assembly at the bend to straighten out the kinks (see picture #2). Some of the bends in the hoses were gradual enough that they did not kink the hose so I only had to use four clamps total. Each one of the hoses is secured in several places using 3/4" Hillman rubber insulated hose clamps with 3/8" bolts and safety nuts. For the avionics (like the GRT HX EFIS) which did not have a specific port to connect the cooling hose to, I fabricated "L'brackets" and secured the hoses in place with the Hillman insulated hose clamps (see picture #3).
