Brief Description:  Fiberglass wing tip triming and fitting

I thought I had done all the fiberglass trimming and fitting two years ago, but as it turns out, I didn't do any of this work. The preformed wing tips need to be trimmed to fit under a lip in the wing skin and the aft section of the fiberglass wing tip needed to be cut to allow for a 1/4 inch gap between the aileron and the wing tip. After very careful marking with red and black markers to show a cut-off line, I trimmed the fiberglass using a belt sander, then palm sander, then hand sanding. The cut-out for the aileron was done using a rotating cut-off wheel and a palm sander. The bottom and top cuts had to match and did perfectly on 'one' wing, The other was 1/8 inch off (too much cut off) on the top of the right wing. I leveled the top and bottom cuts as best as I could to match and it's barely noticeable. It won't be that big of a deal to have 1/4 inch gap on one wing aileron/wing tip and 3/8 inch gap on the other. It's just one of those things I know isn't perfect and that always bothers me.
