Brief Description:  Engine Start!

After spending most of the morning completing the wiring for the EIS we were finally ready to start the engine. Mike S. stopped to buy some 5/16" and 3/8" fuel hose to feed into the 5-gallon gas can. We double checked the EIS default configurations and they were fine. At first, the engine was turned over without the ECU powered in order to build up the oil pressure after sitting for many months. Once the ECU was powered on, it took about 10 seconds of cranking and the engine caught. Moments later it was running! After a few minutes of running, it was noticed that a fuel leak existed at the fuel switch. I'm embarrased to say the fittings were not tight -- these were installed some time ago, and they were not tightened properly. After snugging them down, all was good and the engine now fires within the first few revolutions. One minor problem is getting the tach or prop rpm to read. All other sensors look to be okay with the exception of the Fuel Pressure which is low and needs to be bumped up. Also, the EIS warning light is inoperative. Engine seems to be running rich. However, all-in-all a very satisfying day! Whoopee!
