Completed the fabrication of the linkage rods that connect to the cowl flaps. Spent quite a bit of time adjusting the length of the rods to have the flaps close with just a slight bit of pressure on the flange of the cowling. I think I ran them up and down 20 times each! I'll need to charge the ships batteries! Each cowl flap provides 32 sq inches of exit area (4" x 8"), for an increase of 64 sq inches when deployed. Hopefully, that will be the ticket to keep the engine temps down in a climb. Mechanically, they sure work great!!
Closed position.
Open position with two linkage arms each for stability. Inside sidewall bends to clear engine mounts.
