Brief Description: Fuel Senders and Cover Plates

Started out by drilling another safety wire hole in the nut holding the 5/16 Fuel Return line to the bulkhead fitting on the inside of the Cover Plates. Next, I added Seal Lube to the threads and attached the Return lines to the Cover Plates. Following that came the safety wire. Applied Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket sealant to the Cork Gasket, tank and Cover Plate, which was then installed. The Fuel Sending unit for the left tank came next. Prior to mounting for good, I decided to fabricate a 1/4" faston tab to fasten to the mounting plate of the Fuel Sending unit. The reason for this is I want to use the Viton Sealing washers under the heads of the fastening screws but by doing so, I will break the ground plane that the mounting plate provides. The simplest solution was to add a faston tab for a later ground wire. I used some .032 flat brass stock that I had picked up at the local hardware store a few weeks back and fabricated a tab using one on a toggle switch as a guide for dimensions. I installed the faston tab using a single AN426AD3-4.5 rivet with the counter sink on the inside (gasket side) of the mounting plate. Worked out great! One final task before installing the Sending units is to measure the Ohms resistance of each sender in both the full and empty positions: Left Full: 30.2, Left Empty: 245.6, Right Full: 30.2, Right Empty: 245.5. Also, the standard AN515-8R8 screws are too short (not enough threads extend past the nutplate), so I will be ordering longer screws and will replace the existing screws one-at-time once I have the new ones.
