Brief Description: HS Front Spar, bend/prepare HS-710, HS-714
The last couple of days were occupied with other tasks in the evening, so no work was done on the HS. One of the evenings was spent at the first local EAA Chapter 512 membership meeting of 2006 where I met some great folks with similar building projects underway at various stages. The local EAA folks will be a great resource. This evening, the bending of the HS-710, HS-714 and spar went fairly smoothly. It's difficult to see in the pictures, but there's a 6 degree bend on both the tabs of the HS-710 Re-inforcement angle stock, the HS-714 splice angle stock and the two spar channels attached with clecos. I used a piece of scrap marlite and created the 6 degree angle as a template. The template also has the 5 3/16 inch set-back between the center line of the spar and the bend. The four inner holes with clecos in them are counter-sunk to recieve rivets from the aft (or bottom side in these pictures). Next will be preparing the ribs, match-drilling the components of the Horizontal Stabilizer (HS), then preparing for assembly which will later include riveting skin to the HS framework -- maybe sometime next week if I stay on track.
