A very long day of remove, file, replace, test fit... But I'm much happier now with the results. The only issue I have is the left ring cut-out is 1/4" smaller in diameter than the right. I don't care much about that because I will be re-working these to be rectangular in shape to match the radiator surface area. The main objective today was to get the upper an lower meeting cleanly at all edges without strain. That's been achieved. The upper and lower are only held at the firewall (for now), but they are in almost perfect position. Much better day.
