With the Horizontal Stabilizer secured to the bench, the Elevators were mounted. Next the Elevators were placed in the neutral position (aligned with the Stabilizer), and the slightly aft Elevator horn was drilled to #30. A wood spacer was cut in the chop saw, then drilled to #30 on the drill press. Next, it was slipped perfectly between the Elevator horns by aligning the #30 holes. This provided a pilot hole to drill the other Elevator horn. Next, positioned (and clamped) the HS to the fuselage with measurements from the HS tips to the firewall to be sure it's perpendicular to the longitudinal centerline of the fuselage.
