Brief Description: Left Elevator sub-assembly preparation
Finally back to work on the left elevator. The E-703 and E-704 ribs (left-most in the picture) required some re-bending in order for them to fit correctly. It appears that the flanges were not the same length (from Van's) which, when the parts are assembled back-to-back caused the rivet holes to diverge near the counter-balance weight. This in turn did not allow the E-713 counter-balance skin to fit. I called Van's and they were fine with sending me a new E-703 and E-704; however, I couldn't wait and decided to re-work them myself. They turned out just fine, but I lost several hours doing this. Later, Mike S. came by and helped with the de-burring, dimpling and priming and it finally seemed as though some progress had been made today.
