Brief Description:  Clean and prime the HS structure parts

I was not looking forward to this step, but all-in-all it went pretty well considering it was 38 degrees outside! For my protection, during the following process I wore a NIOSH approved respirater. I also wore rubber gloves for protection and to keep from leaving any skin oils on the surfaces. I prepared all of the surfaces with Napa #7234 Automotive Prep Cleaner (spray can). First used a scotchbrite pad and the Prep Cleaner then wiped that off with paper towels. Then used a second pass of the Prep Cleaner with a sponge then wiped that off with a lint-free cotton cloth. Third step was to use compressed air and make sure the part was completely dry and dust free. At this point, I hung the part and used Napa #7220 Self-Etching primer (spray can, Gray) and sprayed a single pass with a light coat, then followed up with a second coat about 5 minutes later. This primer is easy to work with, and dries fast -- even considering the cold temperatures. Note: The primer was kept inside at room temperature until use. The garage was well ventilated and I did the spraying at the threshold with the garage door wide open. I had a small space heater running at the other end of the garage and while I was not spraying, I put the can of primer at a safe distance from the heater so it would not get too cold. The parts displayed consumed about 2 and 1/2 cans of #7220. I used less that a third of a can of the #7234.
