Brief Description: Assembling and Match-drilling the Tailcone
Today I had a visit from my friend Bryan Raley, whose building an RV-8 nearby. It had been a while since we had time to chat about planes, so it was pretty much all we talked about for an hour or two. When we ran out of things to say about planes, we talked about Oshkosh. I still was able to be productive in the shop. I started assembling the tailcone bulkheads, stiffeners and skins together, supported by sawhorses. Then I began match-drilling the stiffeners into place. One thing's for sure; there are a lot of holes to be drilled and deburred on the tailcone, and I'm not even to the fuselage yet!
Half of the tailcone, assembled and being drilled.
