Today, I began fabrication of the MotoPod. This is a storage pod that attaches to the belly of the airplane. It was engineered by David Shelton of MotoPod and MotoCycle fame. While I purchased the pod and the MotoCycle conversion long ago from David's company, it's taken me this long to get started on it. There is still quite a bit of fabrication left to do with the fiberglass pod. However, compared to the Vans Canopy Top, this thing is a work of art! I am following the instructions supplied by MotoPod. Today was spent marking and cutting the top edge of the pod to perfectly match the bottom of the aircraft. Then I began match-drilling holes for the stainless steel plates that will ulitmately make up the hoisting/latching assemblies into the fiberglass.
