Brief Description:  Routing Edges and Steaming

Today, my daughter, Amelia (Age 3) and I excitedly embarked upon another adventure. This will be HER AIRPLANE PROJECT, which is a wooden pedal plane. When it's finished, it will look like a little F-14 Tomcat and allow her to "fly" all around the neighborhood. Aviation Products, Inc. is the company that makes the kits and they have done a woderful job with them. If you are willing to pay a little more, you can get quite a bit of "quickbuild" options. I ordered all the quickbuild options, since time is limited for us. Amelia will be doing most of the work herself. I plan only to help her only with things that require power tools or brute force, plus adult supervision of course.

The first task was to inventory the kit. Then we used a mini-router to round the edges of the wooden pieces, which came pre-cut from the factory. Once the edges were nice and smooth, we made a special wooden jig (screwed together), then used mom's iron to steam the wooden fuselage sides and bend them into shape using the jig.
