Brief Description:  Flight #10

• Hobbs: 9.3 to 10.5 = 1.2 hrs
• Idling on the taxi way, and waiting behind another a/c, the temps all stayed good! Was able to get the oil temp up close to take-off minimum (I’ve never actually gotten there on the ground)
• Ran the engine pretty hard today, generally always above 2,700 RPM.
• CHTs and EGTs all good!
o CHTs: 347-392. Never once got to yellow caution.
o EGTs: 1200-1300+. Never once got to yellow caution.
• OAT on all flights was 64 at altitude. I still can’t keep the oil temperature UP. It’s about 158 to 165 degrees.
• OP still right at 39-41 psi.
• I think I’m running lean, so I ran WOT in level flight and pulled back the mixture. Sonex says I should get an RPM increase. I got about a 40 RPM increase, but I think it should be more. I will try to richen the mixture slightly and see what happens. I’m running full rich on the mixture knob, and still seem to be burning less than 4 gph. At WOT and full rich I should be burning more like 5+.
• Did spins again. I’m able to recover in ½ turn with minimal altitude loss!
• Right wing is still heavy. I will try adding a temporary trim tab to the right flap and see if that helps. If yes, then I’ll look at adding a permanent trim tab.
• Aerobatic Maneuvers:
o Did left and right aileron rolls today! The plane flew them great! I do better left rolls.
o Full throttle, dive for 120 kts, pull up to 20+ deg and pause, then full stick deflection.
o Ended maneuver with slight nose down attitude, 100 kt airspeed, and about 2g’s pull out.
o All felt very smooth. Did about 5 to the left and 2 to the right.
• Good landing approach. Did not go through runway centerline.
• Landed full flaps. Flared a little high and floated a bit. Little bouncy on the landing, but not bad. Easy runout and minimal braking.
• Need to work on more landing finesse.
• Battery notes:
o After the last flight the battery seemed weak
o After 3 weeks of no flying (on vacation), I put the batter on the charger. It REALLY needed it! It took overni
