Put the exhaust pipes back on, then the cowl (photo 1). Now I can mark the ends of the pipes for cutting. Not much of the pipes need to be outside the cowl. Too much = more drag.

Photo 2 shows the result of the heavily modified cowl.

Photo 3 is a problem. When I test fit the cowl and the exhaust pipes, the CHT probes seemed to clear the cowl with little trouble. In photo 3 you can just see that the cowl is pressing heavily on the spring-end of the CHT probe on the pilot-side of the engine. Others had told me theirs cleared the cowl with no trouble. I wonder what's going on here and what I can do about it.
