Brief Description:  Attaching lower right cowl

- Cut the vertical hinges for the lower cowl, and predrilled the 3/32" holes
- Attached the cowl hinge-half to the hinge half on the fuselage
- Taped the cowl in place
- Shined a bright shop light from behind the cowl to locate a top and bottom hole location. The light goes through the holes so you can see the bright spots from the outside of the cowl. The light needs to be very close to the cowl or the shadows will distort the hole locations. I tried to locate multiple holes, but that was a losing battle, and all I really needed was a top and bottom hole to align the hinge.
- Took the cowl off, drilled the top hole as marked. Put in a cleco.
- Drilled the bottom hole, too. It was a little off compared to the hinge hole, so I clamped the hing in place, tweaking the location of the hinge line. Then I updrilled to 1/8" through both the hinge and cowl and that set things right.
- Made sure the hinge was straight and clamped it in place.
- Used the pilot holes in the hinge to drill the rest of the 3/32" holes through the cowl. Cleco'd in place.
- Put the cowl on for a test fit and all looked OK.
- Marked the cowl for the cutout needed for the hinge pin (see pictures on next page).
- Took the cowl off then updrilled all the holes to 1/8".
- Put the cowl on for another test fit, and made sure I could get the hinge pin in.
