Also wanted to test my LED cockpit light, which is a 12v device. It came with a little extra piece of hardware. When I read the instructions twice, it sounded like the extra device was only if you want dimming, which I don't. So I ignored that extra piece. So tonight I hooked up the light's +/- wires to the 12v battery. Nothing happened. I then checked for continuity and there was none. So I re-read the instructions 2 more times. Turns out the "extra" device is also a current limiter. So guess what? I apparently burned out my LED by putting too much power through it! Dammit! So it's a $30 lesson in reading the instructions and understanding them.
