Brief Description:  Cylinder Assembly

Worked on installing the cylinder heads. Got 2 installed, but stalled due to lack of information. The head installed in photo 3 is just temporary so I could put the nuts in place and tighten them just enough to seat the barrel shims and sealant, until I get the 'super tin' question answered.

Some notes:

1. The manual and video are incomplete. Either know something about putting an engine together, or buy a book to supplement.
2. You must watch the vide and read the manual, both. There is information in one, that is not in the other. Even then you must be very careful to read betwen the lines and skip ahead in the video to see what something looks like.
3. The instructions are not good. Not terrible, but certainly not good.

Case in point:
I was at the stage of my AeroVee assembly where it says to install the "optional" super tin (manual does not say optional; video does).

- There are no instructions on how to do this, either in the manual or on the video. Not even any clue on which side of the cylinders they go on (looking at the disassembled parts on the cover of the manual, it appears to go on the underside of the cylinders, so that's what I was trying)
- In the video there is no super tin installed
- Should I install it?
- I tried installing it, but could not make the bottom section fit any way I tried
- Does the bottom of the super tin go above the bottom fin, or below it?
- If below, it looks like it's going to interfere with the spacer rings.
- If above, I cannot get anything to line up
- And the 'bump' in the engine case right at the base of the tin, appears to be completely interfering with an chance of getting the bottom area seated
- When I got the tin on as far as I could, the bottom of it interfered with the push rod tubes

I have emailed Sonex for help.
