Brief Description:  Making A New Canopy (2 of 2)

After making the initial cuts so the canopy would fit over teh fuselage and windscreen it looked like this.

The most important thing to do now is MARK THE CENTERLINE of the front of the canopy and the rear, with painter's tape, and have a corresponding mark on the fuselage and the windscreen. This is CRITICAL to being able to get the canopy back to the same place each time you take it off and put it back on.

We used painter's tape again to mark the line where we want to make the next cuts. We did so for the rear of the canopy, removed it, cut it down to size, sanded the cut edges, and put it back on for another test fit.

With the back of the canopy where we wanted it (and the centerlines still aligned) we marked the front edge of the canopy against the windscreen, remove the canopy, cut it, sanded it, then put it back on for another test fit. With a descent fit we then moved on to locating the first holes, to be alined with the holes in the canopy frame.
