Brief Description:  Drill screw holes in canopy (pg 2 of 2)

More photos to go with page 1.

- Max Emmighausen (building a Waiex) gave me dulled drill bits to drill the canopy holes. In photo 1 I used a piece of wood held behind the canopy material to back up the drill bit.

- I used a total of 4 bits, from smaller diameter to larger, to get the holes to the right size. But the holes need to be enlarged so the canopy has room to expand. So I wallowed the last bit in the hole to enlarge it.

- Then I used my deburring tool to dress the edges of both sides of all the holes, to remove any stress risers.

- The outsides of the holes need to be countersunk, so I simply used the deburring tool to create the countersinks (photo 2).

- I put the canopy loosely back on the frame. I'll re-tape the canopy and locate the holes on the frame next time.
