I bought the pre-sweged cable from Sonex, but found that it has a swedged end with a small hole in it for the screw. The details on D01 call for a looped cable around a bushing. The swedged end does not allow for a bushing. Without a bushing the swedged end is held tightly between the washers. If I use a longer screw and leave the washers loose (so the swedge will pivot freely) then the lower washer is rotating against the paint on the turtle deck former and wearing off the paint.
So I made a felt washer (red in photos 1 and 2) from my daughter's art supplies! and put it between the washer and the aluminum. That seemed to do the trick.
I also had to bend the swedges to make a straigher line between canopy frame and former when in the open position. But you can't bend the one on the frame too much or it will scrape the turtle deck when the canopy is closed.
