Assembled the wheels/tires. Note that the plans don't give you any information on how to do this, but the Sonex web site does have a downloadable PDF file to explain it.
Note that the Sonex instructions are missing some crucial information if you have never assembled an aircraft tire (as I had not). Here is what needs to be added on page 2 under "Assembling the Wheels", between a. and b.:
a1: Insert the tube in the tire. The air valve will point to the outside of the wheel. a2. Put a little air in the tire so the tube doesn't get pinched by the wheel halves get put together. a3: Insert one wheel half into the tire. Make sure the air valve goes into the semi-circle cut out of the tire half. a4: Insert the second wheel half in the other side of the tire, again making sure the semi-circle cut out of the tire half is at the air valve. a5: [I have the machined brake drums] Lay the brake drum face on the half of the wheel AWAY from the air valve, and align the bolt holes.
This is what each wheel/brake assembly looks like without the tire in place. Note bolt heads this side
Tire prior to inflation. Note tire away from outside rim.
Completed. Inside view on left, outside view on right.
