Brief Description: Make waterproof fiberglass RDAC cover
The EFIS's RDAC computer is not waterproof, so the manufacturer (MGL) recommends keeping water off of it. Since it's going inside the engine compartment (which is where MGL says it SHOULD be) there is certainly a chance of it getting wet. So I'm making a cover out of fiberglass. My thought was to use the RDAC as a mold, and wrap fiberglass around it to form the cover.
I thought it would be easier to do the sides first, and the top second, so tonight I'm doing the top.
- Covered the RDAC in aluminum tape. Fiberglass does not stick well to unprepared aluminum.
- Installed narrow and overlapping strips of fiberglass and resin at the mounting tabs (that is what will hold this cover down), then
- Installed fiberglass in several layers around the box.
