Brief Description:  Rudder hinge, stops & fillets

- Installed the lower rudder hinge (photo #1). I set the rudder in place with its hinge pin, including the lower hinge half. While holding the back of the hinge I used the pilot holes in the left skin to drill into the hinge. Removed, deburred and riveted the hinge in place (with the rudder and hinge pin in place, just to make sure everything aligned before and after the riveting).

- Drilled out 2 rudder stop rivets because the rudder horn was stopping against their heads. Countersunk the stop plates (photo #2 is left side stop) and set to countersunk rivets.

- On the right side rudder horn I had to do a little filing of the horn and the stop, where they were touching prematurely.

- Checked the throw of the rudder and it matches the plans!

- Began to install the fillets between the vertical and horizontal stabs (photo #3).

Next page has some overall shots of the project.
