- Pilot drilled all the holes into the rib with a very small bit, then a 3/32" and finally the 1/8" bit. I used the very small bit first because using a larger bit first tended to cause the gel coat on the tip to flake off. Drilling in 3 steps seemed to just about stop that.
- I did as some other builders suggested and riveted the tail with soft aluminum rivets instead of the stainless steel ones. The thought being that if the tail ever was damaged and had to be removed, the soft aluminum rivets would be easier to drill out.
We surprised my daughter Sophia with breakfast in bed for her birthday today.
