Brief Description:  Bent rudder skin

Finally got back to building today! It's been so long, I had to go back in my log to find the process I used previously for bending the elevator skins.

I made the smallest bend first, which was the right way to do it, but I put the big section of skin on the table, and bent up only the little edge with the brake. It's hard to get a long bend on a short flange. I SHOULD have put the section of short flange under the brake, and left the rest of the metal haning over the part of the brake that bends up (to the left in photo #1).

So I had to do a little tweaking of the short flange with a rubber mallet.

Next I did the medium length bend (photos 1 & 2), and finally the big bend (photo 3). Like before, I had to press down on the big bend (outside of the brake) with a long 2x4 to get it to bend farther.

A little trimming of the flanges (I learned to make them a little longer this time!) and it was ready for the final cuts for the rudder horn. I'll do that tomorrow.
