Brief Description:  Continued main spar of vert stab

Continued on the main spar assembly T09-01 of the vertical stab.

I was trucking along, then looked at the part as I had it laid out before final up-drilling for the bolt-holes, and it did NOT match the drawing on sheet T09-01 (see second photo). Channel T12-04 at first it looked like it was simply an inch too long, and that I could just cut it down. But then I realized that the hole in the part was measured off the end that was too long. So of course the hole was located too low on the part (see photo #3).

The hole is to pass the elevator push rod through, since it is so long and cannot be gotten into the fuselage any other way. I thought maybe it would still work, but the bolt holes would have been too close to the large hole, and "maybe" is not a good thing when the tail is done, the fuselage is done, and THEN you find out it doesn't work.

It only took me about 40 minutes to lay out and bend a new channel in my brake, and get the hole drilled. And I lost about 45 minutes working with the faulty part. So 85 minutes isn't too much to make sure everything is OK.

The remainder of my work for the night, with 3 more pictures, is on the next log page of the same date.
