Brief Description: Begin Turtle Deck
|
|
Started on the turtle deck.
- Laid out, drilled, deburred and installed the 6 (3 on each side) brackets onto the splice channel.
- Put the right skin on top of the channel, aligned with the edge of the channel per the plans, and clamped in several places down the spine.
- Drilled about 15 to 20 pilot holes down the length of the skin/channel, making sure to always align the skin with the edge of the channel flange before drilling. If your channel had a bow in it, that now comes out as you align the skin with the channel flange.
- Put the left skin on top of the right, and cleco'd thru both skins and into the pilot holes.
- Then went back and drilled the remainder of the pilot holes thru all 3 pieces.
- Took everything apart and deburred.
- Put it all back together and riveted in place.
- Laid the entire assembly on top of the tailcone box, but without a second set of hands I did not want to try to put it in place.
