Continued on the control fairleads. I bought spade bits so I could cut the 3/4" holes in the phenolic material. That didn't go so well. I had no way to clamp the phenolic down very well, so the 3/4" spade bit made the hole too large. I filled with epoxy and installed the fairlead, so I'm hoping that will work. I'll see when it dries.
For the second fairlead I tried using the 5/8" spade bit. That worked OK, but the hole was of course too small. Phenolic is too hard to effectively file the inside larger, so I used the spade bit like a milling bit to enlarge it. I got it almost to size, then used a file to tweak it. Very time consuming.
Next time I'll try another method, though I don't know what.
