Brief Description:  Leading Edge Skin bending

Worked on two things: 1) getting a tighter bend on the 1st skin from yesterday, and 2) starting the second skin.

So, yesterday I was not happy with the way the leading edge skin came out using the wood brake. Since I had previously tried to make a leading edge skin solely with the vacuum bag method (which didn't turn out so well), I still had the parts lying around.

I took the skin I bent yesterday and use the vacuum bag method to bend it further. IT WORKED WELL! (See February 5, 2011 for my first try at vacuum bagging).

The biggest problem with the original vacuum bag method was that since I had precut my skins, and the bend line is not centered, the contraption wanted to put the bend in the wrong place. With the PRE-bend in the skin from using the brake, that wasn't a problem.

==========

So then I used the brake to make the pre-bend in the second leading edge skin. It went well, but now needs the vacuum back method to finish it.

==========

Of all the things I have built on this project, these leading edge skins have been the most difficult and frustrating. The wings spars took time, but were much easier.
