Brief Description:  Oil change + alternator stator

I did my 1-hour oil change today, and cleaned the screen.

Because I had heard grinding noises after the last flight I took the stator plate off, and for the 2nd time in 125 hours the 4 stator screws were loose and letting the stator windings contact the magnets (that's the 4 screws that hold the stator windings to the stator plate; not the 4 bolts that connect the trigger plate to the flywheel). I put Loctite on them when I put in the new stator back in June. I even had to clean off all the old Loctite today. I used high temperature Loctite and the Loctite primer once again.

If you ever hear any grinding or friction coming from the back of the engine, take the stator plate off and check everything. And I would suggest you add that to your annual condition inspection.
