Brief Description:  Starting replacement of throttle cable

I had cables/housings from ACS.

Throttle:
I have the Sonex throttle quadrant. I used the ACS cable and housing. I had the carburetor attached so the fuel inlet was on the side closest to the firewall, facing aft. The fuel line was about 14" long. The cable came out of the firewall and then made a curve to the right, followed by a curve to the left, and into the carb. I think the housing had a lot of internal friction, and the bends in the housing made it all worse. The throttle stuck terribly when I tried to advance the throttle. To the point it would not have been safe to fly.

So I bought the Sonex throttle cable/housing, which is beefier and has a good plastic inner sleeve. However, it came with a braided cable, which I think is nuts for a push/pull use. So I found some .062 stainless wire online and used that instead. But then I routed the cable/housing the way Sonex does. I turned the carb 180 degrees and had the throttle cable make a single sweeping turn to the carb. It works like a charm now. Very smooth.

This will be more apparent in the posts after tonight.

Mixture:
I bought a fairly standard push/pull cable/housing assembly from ACS. I think I bought the one with a 2" travel. Well, the AeroInjector has a full 2" travel, which didn't leave much room for error. And to make it worse, however the assembly sat in the housing at the point where it went through the instrument panel, it would sometimes get jammed, so I had to twist it before I could turn it. The housing took the same route to the carb as the throttle did, with 2 bends. I think that hurt its operation, too. So I bought one from ACS that had a 3" travel and a good interior sheath.
