I received the longer screws I needed from A/C Spruce, so I spent the evening attaching the canopy. I bought some pliable plastic washers at the hardware store (photos 1 and 2) to hold the canopy off the frame whenever the canopy did not line up (was depressed) with the edge of the fuselage or the windscreen.
I only found washers like these, in one thickness, so if I needed some thinner washers I just sanded them down by hand on a piece of rough sandpaper, or I held them with pliers and ground them down on the grinding wheel. In photo 1 there is one regular washer above, and one thin washer below.
In some cases I needed no washers at all. In only 1 location did I need 2 full-thickness washers, and in only 2 locations did I need a 1-1/2 washer thickness.
Photo 3 is trying to show the canopy material flush with the rear fuselage.
