Since I'm waiting for the paint to cure on the canopy frame, I decided to work on the gear fairings.
- I used a paper pattern of the base of the fairings, glued it to thin cardboard, and tested the interface fit with the fairing. I did have to make a small tweak but otherwise they fit OK.
- However, when I put the fairing loosely over the gear I found that the fairings are MUCH longer than they need to be. In photo 1 you can see how much of the fairing is above the bottom of the fuselage. I'm going to print a full-size pattern of the fairings on paper, glue to cardboard, and see how much I need to take off.
