To drill and tap the drums for the attachment of the wheel pants, I first had to lift the wheels off the ground. As others suggested, I made a short sawhorse, then raised the tail until my wife could slide the horse under the wing spar tunnel.
I was afraid the airplane might tip on the engine when I did this, but I had the tail up high and holding the tail was extremely easy.
Once the horse was under, I let the tail down and put a few bags of weight on the tail to keep the tail down and raise the main gear.
