Brief Description:  Cowl repairs

There were two goofs I needed to fix on the cowl.

One was I cut off the lower piece of cowl below the cuout for the hinge-to-fuselage insertion. It was only a 1/8" strip, but it was noticeable. So I epoxied on a sliver of left over fiberglass from elsewhere on the cowl, and then glassed over it (photo 1).

The other was at the fuel vent at the bottom of the cowl (photo 2). I originally cut out a half moon from the edge, then realized the vent would exit further into the cowl. The hole in photo 2 is the correct location, and you can see the half moon I epoxied back in, and then glassed over.

Funny thing is that after I get the fuel vent area glassed smooth, I'm going to cut it again! It's tough to get the lower cowl on when I have to slip it over the vent tube. So I'm going to cut from the cowl edge back to the hole. But the half moon was off cente so it wouldn't look good. Now it will look right.
