More tweaking. I cut some of the back edges of the forward baffles to keep them from pushing the cowl forward, which appears to be part of the problem. That did help bring the lower cowl back closer to the upper cowl, but not enough.
So it looks like I'm going to have to make some cuts on the lower cowl and do some fiberglass work to make this work. I'm going to get better at fiberglass than I wanted to.
