Brief Description:  Engine alignment, etc.

-. The engine mount grommets never seated properly when we hung the engine, and that was keeping me from progressing with the cowling, electrical connections, and throttle/mixture connections.

- So I had a mechanic-friend come over to help me wrestle the grommets into the engine mount. His first quesion was, "have you tried soapy water?" I hadn't.

- So in an example of brains over brawn I wetted the grommets with soapy water and we got them all to seat with little effort!

- Of course, after my friend left I realized (re-reading the instructions again) that I needed more than 1 washer at the front grommet. The instructions say at least 1/8" thickness of grommets. So I loosened each mounting nut one at a time, added two more washers per grommet (see photo #1), added soapy water again, and re-tightened everything.

- Leveled the fuselage and made measurements for the thrust line and prop hub locations. Everything seemed to be pretty darn close.

- The EGT probes are to go 4" from the exhaust flange, on the exhaust pipe centerline. In photo 2 you can see an X where the probe would go if meaured at the outside face, 4" away. But this looks like the probe would hit the cowl, so I'm going to wait to drill the EGT probe holes until after I fit the cowl and baffles, so I can see where I won't have interference.

- Straightened out all the electrical wiring so I can begin to make all the connections.
