Brief Description:  Alternator Install

Installed the alternator per the instructions, including checking to make sure the stator and the magnets are not scraping together when the crank turns. There was no interference so I made the final installation.

It's funny how the instructions simply say to 'remove the alternator' to check for the interference. But like they say, the magnets are VERY powerful! It took a lot of prying and blocking to get that sucker out of there. Not easy. I dinged up the aluminum by prying with screwdrivers. A helpful hint about how to do it would have been nice.

I then wanted to set the timing. The instructions clearly show a timing mark on the alternator shaft, but as you can see in photos 1 and 2, it is NOT on my alternator! So I have no way to set the timing. I need to contact Sonex.

Note there is NO timing mark on the shaft of the alternator. There should be.

Here is the magnet. Presumably the timing mark should be somewhere near that.
